Behind the Board

A study of ten record producers and what they actually do to a song, sorted into five schools. Each producer is a designed sleeve — catalogue number, initials, a vinyl motif — carrying their sound, their mechanics and their records, and it closes with a ten-move steal-list.

It exists because production is the least visible craft in music. Making each producer a distinct object, in their school's colour, makes an invisible skill legible.

What to take from it: pick a design world with its own logic. The Blue Note / Swiss-modernist treatment — petrol ink, saturated accents, heavy Helvetica — carries the whole thing without a single stock photo.
