The Hitchhiker's Guide rebuilt as a glowing green hand-held device booting up with DON'T PANIC across the screen.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

Sub-Etha Edition

Wing Ⅲ · Craft & Culture — 15 July 2026

A study of Douglas Adams' books built as the object they describe: a working Sub-Etha device that boots up, tells you not to panic, and holds entries, being-dossiers, the six books and the man himself — with a search that knows about 42 and a button that glitches reality.

It exists to prove a point about form. A study of a thing can take the shape of the thing, and the joke lands harder when the reference behaves like the fiction.

What to take from it: match the medium to the material. Adams' voice is a working machine with a sense of humour, so the study became one too.
