The Waves Reference

A field manual for a Waves plugin collection large enough that nobody actually knows what half of it does. Three hundred and eleven plugins, pulled straight from the machine's own Audio Unit registry so the list is exactly what shows up in the host, then researched and written out in plain English — what each one is, what it does, what it's actually for — organised into eight working categories instead of Waves' own marketing bundles.

It exists because a plugin folder this size stops being useful the moment nobody can search it. So alongside the reference sits a second exhibit: real vocal-chain builds — Travis Scott, Kanye, Billie Eilish, a Chris Lord-Alge-style pop lead, lo-fi bedroom pop — each one naming a real signal path out of the same installed plugins, with an honest confidence note on how documented the technique actually is versus genre convention. A third room holds a full nine-stage mastering chain, EQ through final loudness check.

What to take from it: the console read is deliberate. Cyan and green for the reference and the vocal chains, amber and gold for the mastering room — three rooms of the same building, each holding its light so a hand can find its way back without reading a label.
