A West Europe Invented in the Sun
The Spaghetti Western
A study of the spaghetti western as a craft problem: the Techniscope frame, the dye-transfer grade, and the standoff geometry that makes the triello work. It carries a twin dossier on Leone and Corbucci and a colour recipe you can actually load.
It exists because the look of these films is usually described in adjectives. Adjectives cannot be applied to footage. Numbers can.
What to take from it: refuse the obvious palette. The reflex for a western is brown earth; this one committed to bleached high-noon light instead, and the subject reads more clearly for it.
