What this is

Artefact is simple: pick a subject — a person, an historical event, an idea, a skill, whatever you're curious about — and read the exhibit built for it. You'll properly understand the subject in under three minutes. No lectures, no textbooks. Just the real thing, explained plainly.

It is arranged in five wings. The Hall is the room itself; the Index is the same collection as a list, for when you know what you are looking for or your machine would rather not render a 3D room.

How the pieces are made

1. 1Study
   Before anything is drawn, a real reference is pulled apart — a site, a film, a printed page. Nothing here is designed in the abstract.
2. 2Design
   The look is decided in words first: a scene, a palette strategy, three voice words. If the words are vague the design will be too.
3. 3Build
   One page, built properly, before anything is repeated. Working code, not a prototype with the hard parts left out.
4. 4Check
   Every piece is tested on a real phone screen before anyone sees it — small screens first, keyboard only, motion turned off.
